THE ALCHEMY OF A STORM
Coming soon in 2027!
The Alchemy of a Storm is an open film project focused on transparency, collaboration, and sharing knowledge throughout the production process. As part of the project, assets and production data created during the film will be released publicly for free use, allowing others to learn from and build upon the work. The project aims to provide insight into the full filmmaking workflow while documenting how the team approaches production. The team is made up of artists from around the world, bringing together a diverse range of skills, perspectives, and experiences.
As the Creative Producer for The Alchemy of a Storm, I oversee production across all departments, including layout, character and prop assets, animation, CFX/FX, scene assembly, lighting, compositing, and editorial. I work closely with supervisors and producers to develop both short-term and long-term production timelines and ensure the team stays aligned with project goals.
I lead weekly production meetings and lead meetings, create presentations and reminders, and help facilitate communication across departments. I also contributed to developing and organizing production-tracking workflows using Ynput AYON and Notion. A key part of my role is identifying issues or tasks that may be falling through the cracks and connecting artists, leads, and supervisors to help troubleshoot problems and keep production moving forward.
The film will be completed and will have a festival run in 2027. Stay tuned!
Tracking and Community on Discord
The primary form of communication on this project is Discord. The server is divided up into channels based off of level of participation as well as department. My work on Discord is mainly sending reminders to artists and announcements on the team chat. Thanks to the department producers, the Discord has been well maintained and organized!
Production and Pipeline on Notion and AYON
Here is my work on production tracking in Ynput AYON (our pipeline and task tracking) as well as Notion (macro schedule and department sandboxes). On AYON, I helped create and organize our project overview. I created the folders, tasks, and helped assign artists. On Notion, I developed our team's calendar. This calendar is where I track the milestones, kick-off dates and meetings.
Production and Guide Presentation Example
Below is an example of a presentation I created for one of our production and Guide meetings. The goal of the presentation to review over departments, remind the team of milestones and highlight anything that may be missing.
